Coyotes checking-line agitator Tyson Nash underwent surgery on a strained abdominal muscle Wednesday in Philadelphia.

A team spokesman said the operation, performed by Dr. William Meyers, was successful, and that Nash likely would be off his skates for at least three weeks.

Nash's return to the lineup is likely six weeks away.

Nash has already missed 11 games because of the injury.

Meyers, who performed similar surgery on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, recommended the surgery on Tuesday.

Nash, 30, underwent a similar operation a few years ago while playing for St. Louis.
